Paradise Hill’s history

Paradise Hill became an incorporated village on January 1, 1947. It lies in the Rural Municipality of Frenchman Butte No. 501, and oil, natural gas and farming are the mainstays of its economy.

Visitors will find a giant ox and cart at the entrance to the village, a nod to the Carlton Trail. The Roman Catholic church of Our Lady of Sorrows was decorated by the artist Berthold Imhoff. North and west of the village, The Marsh offers walkways, paths and a lookout for bird watching.

Within a 15 to 30 minute drive are the Frenchman Butte Museum, the Battle of Frenchman Butte National Historic Site and Fort Pitt Provincial Park. Paradise Hill has also produced John Rogers, who played in the NHL for the Minnesota North Stars and in the WHA for the Edmonton Oilers, and Tanner Novlan, an actor and model.
